Sat 29th March.........Twenty up!

The 1st team took their tally to 20 goals in three games with a 7-1 thrashing of Knaphill.

Matt Grave, starting his second game since re-signing from Chertsey Town three weeks ago, took his goal tally to 5 with a hat trick against a luke warm Knaphill side. The league new boys didn't seem as eager as they did when we played them in our first game of the season, and a repeat of the 3-3 draw that day never looked to be on the cards. Goals from Jamie Marriott, Mark Buss and two more from Daryl North completed the scoring......more

Mon 24th March.........Eggs all round

This years Easter Monday fixture was Hanworth away to Feltham, at Bedfont. Confusing eh! Well it certainly seemed to confuse Feltham because 25 minutes into the game and we were 4 goals up, and with the weather as bad as it was, Feltham were never going to muster the enthusiasm to produce much of a fight back, despite scoring just before the break. The only surprise was that we never scored more than two in the second half.

Our first goal was a bit of a fluke as the ball hit Reddings on the backside and spun 25 yards back into the net, but our other goals were class. The second goal came when Mattie Graves ran clear of the Feltham defence and coolly slotted past the onrushing keeper. An excellent sweeping move, involving half the team, and a calm Daryl North finish produced our third, and another solo effort from Matt Grave completed the first half scoring.

The boss made a few changes at half time, and it wasn't long before before one of them got in on the scoring act. Bumble completed an exchange of passes between Andy V and himself by firing home from the edge of the box. The scoring was completed by a great solo effort from a very unlikely source. Steve Higgins, of all people, going on a mazy run before slotting into the corner, the best of a really good bunch. 13 goals in three days, not a bad weekend.

Sun 23rd March.........Stand up the real men

A horrible day, with snow, sleet and rain was always going to sort the men from the boys and as  it turned out the real men turned out to be the Vets.

Whilst the Sunday 1st's decided that it was much too cold and wet for them to play, the Youth team at decided they would give it a try, but unfortunately, they couldn't back up their bluster. A dreadful display saw them lose their Feathers cup semi final, 3 goals to nil, against an impressive Barnes Eagles side who will now face Armenian Youth in the final.

The real heroes of the day were the Vets who had to travel to Teddington to take on Moorland United, the only team left that can stop the old guys from winning the league. The conditions appeared to have absolutely no effect on our aged men of steel as they faced up to a side, a third of their age, who were desperate to grasp their last chance to take silver ware. Brucie Peake, Paul Butts, Brownie and Mark Peake, supported by Brunning, Reidy and Bobby Keene in midfield, fought off wave after wave of attacks, and just as well because NIck G was in goal, and his leg had a hangover. Up front Jay Mariner, Mad Tommy Keene and Irish Tony kept the opposition's defence busy, and near the end of the game, their superior fitness showed, and thay almost won the game with a couple of chances that went just wide. Well done old 'uns, three more points and the party can start.

Sat 22nd March.........Good start to the holiday

Easter weekend, and the business end of the season. It is highly unlikely that Staines Lammas will drop enough points to allow our boys to win the league, but the battle for second spot is still very much in our hands, although we cannot afford to give away points like we have recently. The 1st's entertained Coulsdon United for the first time this season and a very strong attacking performance saw us easily run out 7-2 winners. A hat trick from big Jamie Marriott, ably backed up by goals from the Stevies, (Reddings and Loveridge), Mark Buss and Daryl North did the damage, whilst at the back we somehow managed to concede a couple. The only down side was the injury picked up by Benny Sidwell, but all in all we are in a good mood for the derby against Feltham on Monday.

The 2nd's had to travel to table topping Guildford City, and an excellent performance saw then win their third straight league game. By all accounts (Bruce Peake) the boys played a lot a better than the 2-3 score line suggests, and should have had more than the goals scored by Higgo, Bumble and Mattie Grave, once again back home from Chertsey Town.

Sun 9th March.........Embarrassment for 1st's but Youth & Vets do the bizzo

I don't know what happened, but somehow the 1st team lost 8 - nil, that's right 8 - nil, and they lost to a team at the bottom of league with only 1 win so far this season. The boys weren't very chatty when they got back to the Ranch. The committee is meeting to consider how to heap more embarrassment on them.

The 2nd's (Youth) and the 3rd's (Vets) both had good wins in their quest to win their leagues. The 2nd's picked up a 3 to nil win away to The Rising Sun and the Vets beat title rivals, Sunday Social, 3-1 at the Ranch. The Vets need 7 more points to tie up the title, although a win over 2nd place Moorland in their next game will cut that requirement to 1.

Sat 8th March.........1st's drop more vital points but 2nd's win again

Another draw, this time away to Warlingham, saw us drop two more points in our pursuit of the Combined Counties Division One title. Warlingham always give us our toughest games of the season and today's game was no exception. The weather didn't help, but it couldn't be used as an excuse as we failed to take a lead into halftime, despite having the better of the game against a strong wind. By the time that we got going after the break we were already 2 goals down and it took a show of character, and goals from Higgo and Noadie, to give us the point that still gives us a slim hope of the league.

The 2nd's played host to Farleigh Rovers Res and deserved their win, although they made very hard work of it. Right from the start we were on top. Oggy and Adam Piggott both missed sitters, made all the worse when Farleigh scored with their 1st, and possibly their only, attack of the half. The second half was pretty much the same as the first, we had all the possession but were wasting chance after chance, until James "Titch" McEwan smashed home a screamer of a free kick. The boys had their tails up now and it wasn't long before they were in the league when a Gordon McAvoy shot was deflected home by a defender. Not pretty but as I said a well deserved win.

Weds 5th March.........Whey-eh!! another cup final

It's no secret that we love a cup final, and guess what? the boys have only gone and got in another one by beating Westfield last night. Two goals from Stevie Reddings, the second deep into extra time, saw us win a closely fought match and set up a showdown with either the Lammas or Neasden, at Ashford Town FC, on Bank Holiday Monday the 5th May......more

Sun 2nd March.........Not a bad day's work

Not a bad Sunday, two wins and a draw.

The 1st team got their revenge on Chiswick Griffin, who knocked them out of the cup last week, with a 4-1 win at home in the league. An important win which strengthens their challenge for the title.

Double D was very disappointed with his boys display away to Ealing Commoners. The 2nd's have been flying lately but today they lacked punch up front and should have done better than the 1-1 draw they got. Still second place with 8 games in hand is not too shabby.

Once again the stars of the Sunday show were the Vets. Two up after 10 mins, 3 up after 25 mins they soon shot down the Feltham Cowboys to go back to the top of the league. With 2 goals from Tommy, 1 from Bob and none (again) from Steve, the Keene brothers continued their very personal feud for the top scorers. Cleaver monies on Tommy who is now 3 clear of Bob and 18 clear of Steve. There's still time Stevie boy.

Sat 1st March.........Boys Blow Ben's Brace

It all looked good at half time. For 45 minutes we had easily controlled the game against our visitors, Farleigh Rovers, but a spirited fight back from Farleigh earned them a draw......more

Our other Saturday sides had mixed fortunes. The 2nd's travelled to Hartley Wintney and despite leading 3 times and scoring 4 goals they still managed to lose. Kaney put it down to bad defending and seeing that they have scored 7 goals in their last two matches and only earned 1 point I think that he may be right.

The 3rd team continued their recent good form with a 6 nil win away to Northfield Shamrocks. That's 4 wins on the trot now, Tony Woodard seems to have got them sorted out know. Keep up the good work boys.

Sun 17th Feb.........Sunday sides complete clean sweep

Following yesterdays wins by our three Saturday sides it was down to the Sunday boys to perform, and they never let the club down.

Double D's 2nd team continued their excellent season with a comfortable 5 - nil league win over lowly North Sheen. This result leaves them 10 points behind the league leaders but the 7 games they have in hand will come in handy as they try to win their league in their 1st season in adult football.

At the other extreme, the Vets are playing in their who knows what season in adult football, but they are also producing the goods. After 3 awful displays they got back on track with an 8-3 win away to Newton City. Bobby Watson got an hat-trick, Bob Keene a brace and Reidy, Sam Procter and Irish Tony a goal apiece to take them to equal top of the league. Once again they have a couple of games in hand.

Sat 16th Feb.........1st's go goal crazy

For the second time this season the Sat 1st team scored 12 goals. This time the unlucky opponents very bottom of the league Merrow. Jamie the Giant opened the scoring after 15 mins and Joe Woodard, back in the 1st team after 4 months, and Melvyn Raggett added to the score to give us a 3-nil half time lead.
Tony the Boss made a few changes during the break and Errol soon showed his gratitude by scoring 2 mins into the half. The goals dried up for a while and our 5th, a Reddings penalty, didn't come until the 70th minute but that did open the flood gates. Joe scored his 2nd of the match, Daryl North notched a couple, an OG and Matt Pollard brought us up to 10. The scorer of the other two goals was none other than Leo Stevenson, our standby goalkeeper! A good win, great for the goal difference, but it will be a lot tougher next week when we entertain Staines Lammas.

Whilst the 1st team were murdering Merrows 1st team our 2nd's made harder work of things against Merrow Res. Still goals from Hughie and Dewie gave us a 2-1 win.

The 3rd team followed up last weeks great win over Willesden by inflicting Bedfont Sports first defeat of the season. Let's hope the run continues next week against South Acton.

Wed 13th Feb.........Back on Top

The Midweek lads went back to the top of the London Airport Premier with a 2 nil win over Hayes Postal. The lads put in an excellent all round performance with especially good displays from Danny Butler and Darren Stevens. Jon Henry scored both goals to see us back on top on goal difference.

NOTE: Acton Police have withdrawn from the league and all their results have been expunged. This has had the effect of bringing some of our main rivals closer to us once again. It seems that they will stop at nothing to stop us winning the league again.

Tue 12th Feb.........Good Result

Hartley Wintney and Staines Lammas, our 1st team's main threats for the league title, fought out a goalless draw. Probably the best result we could have wished for.

Sun 10th Feb.........Cup misery

No 1st team match this week but both the 2nd's and Vets were involved in Cup semi finals, and both failed to make the final.....more

Sat 9th Feb.........The Good, the Good & the Ugly

Sat 2nd Feb........."Loverman" special saves a point

The 1st team, looking for their 6th straight win, played host to Warlingham in the league. Charlie Hare put us in the league following some good work from Noadie but two goals from the visitors late in the half meant we went in 2-1 down at half time..............more

Weekend 6th/7th Oct.........not a bad weekend

On Saturday the 1st's went goal crazy with a 2 - 12 win away to second place Sheerwater. Top gun was Benny Sidwell whose season finally burst into life with a hat-trick..........more
