Early season reports on Colliers Wood being a much improved outfit this season proved correct and helped produce a very entertaining, high paced game.

As on Saturday we were still without our skipper, Adam Baigent, and his defensive side kicks Tom Dillerway, Jermaine Queensborough and Alfie White. To make things worse we were also without Junior Wright and Jack Buckle. Once again Rufus dipped into his squad and gave a return debut to Prosper Ezewuzie whilst keeping faith with Luke Muldowney, Luke Silavke and Felix Ahorlu.

Right from the start it was obvious that both sides were keen to attack. With plenty of pace on show the chances soon started to come. Wood started the stronger, producing a good save from Tristan Thomas and a good block from Ginger Muldowney in the first minutes of the game.

Once the game settled down a bit we started to get into the game. Cyril Ocansey and Athan Smith Joseph both had chances, and could have probably done a bit better. Fallon in the Woods goal had an inspired 15 minutes, saving at the feet of Cyril, and twice denying Levi King. The 2nd save an almost point blank reflex save. 0-0 at the break.

The deadlock was broken soon after the restart. In the 48th minute we got caught napping a bit as a quick counter attack down our left ended with a fine cross being volleyed home by Woods Kaddu.

The goal produced renewed effort from our boys and our concerted pressure paid off in the 58th minute when Cyril got in front of a Woods defender only to be pushed to the ground. Levi made no mistake with the resulting penalty to level things up.

The remainder of the game swung from end to end but the deadlock couldn’t be broken and both sides had to settle for a point apiece.

The draw was probably the fair result. I think that we slightly shaded the chances count but Wood were worthy of a point for their performance. All in all a very good game. 2 good sides who will do well if they continue to produce performances like this.
