It appears that home wins are like buses, get one and another comes along right behind it.

After the excellent performance against Redhill at the weekend the Boss was eager to get this game on and, once again, Brownie defied the weather gods to produce the only grass pitch playable on the day.

The lads showed that they were in the right mood for the challenge and, right from the kick off, they took the game to our visitors. Once again our forward line of Scottie Walker, Tauren Roberts and Jason Dwunfuo posed all sorts of problems for the Guildford defence. If it wasn’t for the visiting goalkeeper we would have taken an early lead but as it turned out it was the visitors who opened the scoring when a speculative shot took a wicked deflection past Bussy and into our net. 13 mins gone 1 nil to Guildford.

To their credit the boys didn’t dwell on the misfortune and set about going after the equaliser. We didn’t have to wait too long. We had already gone close a couple of times when, in the 27th minute,  Jason Dwunfuo  finished off a lovely team move to deservedly pull us level. 1 each at the break

The 2nd half followed the pattern of the 1st, almost continual attacks from us. Guildford were defending well however and, after their 3rd goal line clearance, the winner looked increasingly unlikely.

With 2 minutes to go though we finally got our chance after Jason was bought down in the box. An important spot kick as we are in desperate need of points at the moment but we needn’t have worried. Young Scottie Walker stepped up and confidently fired the penalty home. Happy days.

It would be wrong to single anybody out as it was another excellent all round team performance. It appears that we are finally getting some stability in the squad and the future is starting to look a lot brighter.
