HVFC v VIRGINIA WATER

Saturday 25th September @ 3 pm
Combined Counties Premier North
Rectory Meadow, Park road, Hanworth, TW13 6PN
Admission – Adults £7, Concessions £4

Virginia Water are new boys to the Com Co and to date it’s true to say that they have been struggling to come to terms with a different style of football than they have been used to in the Hellenic league. Their first visit to Rectory Meadow also co-incided with a recent change of management as well.

It was obvious from the outset that the new management are starting their rebuild by making the Waters difficult to beat. They defended very deep in good numbers, limiting their attacking to the occasional counter attack. However our defense is looking a very orgainised, tight unit at the moment and Terry was rarely called into action in our goal.

With the visitors defending so deep our pacey wingers found it difficult to get into the game and their central defenders stuck very tightly to our central attackers. The few strikes on goal we did have were dealt with by the capable Waters goal keeper.

Despite having the vast majority of both pocession and territorial advantage it took us until the 80th minute to score the goal that would give us the 3 points. A shot from debut boy Immad Sankoh needed a deflection off of a defender to finally beat the stubbon defense, an element of luck but surely nobody could deny that we deserved the win.
