Villa earn another win in pre-season
Hanworth Villa’s third match of the pre-season came against step 5 side Fareham Town as they travelled to Rectory Meadow.
The game kicked off with Villa looking like the brighter side as Louis Gates swung a cross from the right-hand side of the pitch into Ben Geraghty who narrowly misses the target.
As the hydration break loomed onto us Villa had one more chance in them. Trialist takes a powerful shot from inside the box which is parried away by Fareham’s keeper.
Next for Villa is a freekick which is taken quickly by Gio McGregor to Louis Gates who runs down the wing and crosses back to Gio for the first goal of the evening at the 29th minute.
The final chance of the half coincided with Fareham’s first chance as a freekick meets the head of the Fareham defender who heads it centimetres over the bar, with Villa ending the half 1-0 up.
Fareham go close early in the second half due to a lapse in concentration from trialist for Villa which forces Tyla Dickinson into making a phenomenal save.
On the hour mark Fareham once again earn themselves a freekick in a delightful position which hits the top of the crossbar and goes out for a goal kick.
This seemingly ignites something in Villa as following a few more substitutions Remi Onabanjo plays Abdullah Selloum into the box who gets his shot deflected over the bar for a corner.
Villa get the last chance of the game which is taken expertly by Brandon Curtis who fires in Abdullah Selloum’s pass into the top left corner to make the final score 2-0.
It was a brilliant display from Villa overall today with Louis Gates being a standout performer on the right wing.
Villa will take on Carshalton Athletic in our next pre-season fixture. Kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday, 18th July
