The club wishes to make the following statement regarding our Under 18 team.
Due to the current economic challenges associated with meeting the costs of running our Under 18s programme this year, we regretfully confirm that we will be withdrawing from all competitions between now and the end of the season. This includes the Isthmian Youth League, with immediate effect.
Despite this difficult decision, we remain fully committed to developing a strong pathway from youth to adult football at Hanworth Villa. This season alone has seen two of our Under 18 players make their senior debuts for our First Team, which underlines the success and importance of that pathway.
While this decision has been taken for short-term financial reasons, it is very much our intention to re-launch the Under 18s programme in the future. Our focus will be on building the squad primarily from home-grown talent within our grassroots teams, particularly those currently competing at Under 15 level and below.
We would like to stress that this decision does not affect any other teams within our youth section, all of which will continue to operate as normal.
Finally, we would like to thank Ollie, the players, and parents for their commitment, hard work, and achievements over the past few years.
Further details will be shared in due course as we develop our plans for the youth-to-senior pathway, commencing this summer.
