Hanworth Villa FC

Festive fixture list

22 December 2025

This year, our Christmas fixtures don’t fall on the traditional bank holidays. With Boxing Day on a Friday, the league with the agreement of the clubs decided that the default matchday would remain our usual Saturday, and the same applies to New Year’s Day, albeit New Years Day falling on a Thursday.

This means we can all enjoy Boxing Day and New Year’s Day off, while our focus turns to two very important fixtures.

Saturday 27th December | Westfield v Hanworth Villa – 3pm

On Saturday 27th December, we travel to Westfield in what is very much a six-pointer. Westfield have enjoyed an excellent first half of the season, having held second place in the division for a number of weeks. With 21 games played, our hosts have recorded 15 wins and 2 draws, suffering just 4 defeats, the same number as Villa.

Most notably, they are one of only two teams to have taken all three points away from league leaders Leatherhead at Fetcham Grove. Incidentally, Westfield have beaten them twice this season, also knocking Leatherhead out of the FA Cup back in August.

Westfield currently sit three points ahead of Villa in the table, with both teams boasting two of the strongest defences in the league. This will be the first meeting between the sides this season. The last encounter, at Woking Park in October last season, saw Villa run out 3–1 winners, with goals from Finlay Macnab, Alex Body, and Sam Merson.

Everything is set for this to be a fantastic game of football between two highly competitive sides.

Saturday 3rd January | Hanworth Villa v Hendon - 3pm

To kick off the new year, we welcome Middlesex rivals Hendon to Rectory Meadow in what promises to be another important fixture. Hendon’s fortunes this season have been mixed, with The Greens currently sitting 12th in the table. They can, however, boast an impressive run in this year’s FA Trophy, eventually being knocked out by Walton & Hersham in the first-round proper.

Hendon come into the game on the back of a couple of strong results, running out 4–1 winners over Fareham Town, followed by a 2–1 victory against Ascot United in the run-up to Christmas.

This will be the return fixture following a 0–0 draw on the August Bank Holiday. While no goals were scored, it was a real battle of defences, with both sides having chances to nick all three points. You can read the match report from that day here.

While Hendon’s league form has been inconsistent so far this season, this will be a tough encounter for Villa against a hardworking side that has ground out some excellent results.
